Pilot House Table

We are not quite at the "move in the books stage" yet, but we are getting close!  I'm trying to use up all the scrap wood left in our outdoor wood shop ie. Pearl so that we can start spending more time in St. Thomas.  My latest project was to build an easy stow table for two that will extend to seat four or five when we have company.

The starboard side of the pilot house and our tower of tool boxes in front of the helm.  Do you notice the fold away table?

There it is!  I decided on a table that hinges down with a knee that hinges out to support it.  The table is actually the cutout from one of the galley sinks (good thing I have such big sinks).   The whole hinged table is assembled on a sheet of three-quarter inch plywood that is mounted on two twenty-one inch drawer slides so that the table actually folds and slides into a corner when not in use.

The slides give enough range to fold and untold the jump seat without interference from the table.
