We've done two proposals for this particular client. This was the first. He came to us asking for a very narrow, classically styled sloop. During the preliminary design process we explored the idea of building the boat using the lightest composite construction methods possible and decided on a carbon/foam sandwich using epoxy resin. Systems would be kept to an absolute minimum for weight savings. Interior joinery would be built using wood veneers over Nomex honeycomb panels. A lifting keel was explored but abandoned due to the added complexity and the intrusion on the cabin in a boat this narrow.
The boat would normally be used as a daysailer with the occasional overnight. A full time captain would be employed with an extra bunk for a "pick-up" hand for long deliveries.
